[PS Plus Reviews] February 2016 Quick Roundup

Oh boy oh boy.

February 2016 is a good time to hop on the PS Plus train if you’re looking for great free games. (Free as long as you are an active subscriber that is). The PS3 definitely the strongest offering- a AAA double whammy of a racing and fighting game. The PS4, as always, have no AAA offering (and if you’re wondering why, read my opinion piece here). BUT! They are offering one of their best indies exclusive on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, well not anymore since there’s already a PC release. But I digress.

Here’s a quick roundup of all the available titles free for all active PS Plus subscribers on February 2016.

Helldivers (PS4, PS3, PS Vita)

Helldivers is blast. From the team behind the ludicrous but fantastic PC magic casting game Magicka, and the recent Gauntlet reboot (offered free on PS Plus last November), Arrowhead Studio partnered up with Sony to make another top down twin stick shooter- this time with actual guns. This game is what a Sony-exclusive title should do. (It’s now out on PC too)

Nom Nom Galaxy (PS4)

If this tweet piqued your interest (it was RT’d and liked by developers Q-Games, so that means something), do check what I think of Nom Nom Galaxy here:

Nova 111

Nova-111 is a turn-based game where some elements of the game doesn’t obey that and works in real-time. Plenty of gameplay mechanic tricks being thrown here and there making the short journey saving 111 scientists fun.

GRID Autosport (PS3)

This apology game to the lukewarm GRID 2 is something I did enjoy, and glad for it to exist, as it paves the way for developes Codmasters to be in touch with their core audience and the result is Dirt Rally.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, or its longer Japanese game, Persona 4 The ULTIMAX Ultra Suplex Hold, is the sequel to Persona 4 Arena, a 2D anime fighter based on the hit RPG series Persona. P4U is the updated and best version of P4 Arena, and if you’re familiar with developers Arc System Works’s eh.. works, before, you’re probably right at home.

Also, no one will be with me on this but Yukiko is best Waifu.

Lemmings Touch

Lemmings Touch is the only game I did not cover in a full review this month, due to me not having a Vita. But from what I see it is basically the classic Lemmings with touch controls implemented, which seems like a good fit. Check out this trailer and see if if it has piqued your interest.

It’s a bit hectic to cover all but one games of the PS Plus free lineup with only 10 days to cover. But man, having all these great games in the library. Yes, I am still participating in the PS Asia Junior Reporter competition, so feel free to take what I say with a pinch of salt. But this is honestly one the strongest offering in months.

Hopefully March can at least match up to this level of quality games being given free.
